This week we consider the Argus II retinal implant system as an example of orphan medical technology, and contrast its treatment with the responses to two other instances of orphan technology. And, I recently spoke with Professor Colleen Heflin of Syracuse University about her recent paper titled “Exposure to Food Insecurity during Adolescence and Educational Attainment.” The paper is to be published in Social Problems and is co-authored by Rajeev Darolia and Sharon Kukla-Acevedo.
